What kind of port is Aogata Port in Kamigoto?

Kamigoto was a port of call for Japanese envoys to Tang China during the Heian period. During the Edo period, it was also a region where hidden Christians who preserved their faith amidst severe persecution settled.

The island still has many Catholic churches and temples, and local performing arts such as Kamigoto Kagura and whaling songs are still passed down through generations.
