Editorial Policy and How We Check Information

cruisefun aims to provide accurate, easy-to-use information so that cruise passengers calling at Japanese ports can enjoy their limited time ashore with confidence. This page explains how we gather, check and correct our information.

Sources

  1. Official materials from port authorities, local governments and national agencies (such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Tourism Agency)
  2. Official timetables and fare tables of public transport (trains, buses and ferries)
  3. Official websites of tourist facilities and shops
  4. Official information from cruise lines and their sales agents in Japan
  5. Port call schedules are based on schedules published in advance, and we reflect changes announced officially by the ports.

We do not publish numbers, dates or names based only on news sites or personal blogs. If something cannot be confirmed in official materials, we either leave it out or state where the information comes from.

How we write

  • We keep facts (confirmed in official materials), estimates (such as travel times, which vary with conditions) and recommendations (our editors' views) separate.
  • We write in a way that does not go out of date, by including dates (for example, "From November 1, 2026, ..." rather than "will change").
  • Information related to all-aboard times (travel times, last services, etc.) is given as an estimate with a margin.

What our dates mean

Last verified The date we checked the main information on the page together
Checked (in the text) The date we checked an individual source
Last updated The date the page content was actually changed

On-site checks

When our team has checked something by photographing, sailing or visiting in person, we say so. Everything else has been checked against official materials. We never describe information as checked on site if it was not.

Translation

English translations are checked sentence by sentence against the Japanese original. Korean, Traditional Chinese and Spanish use machine translation, which we are reviewing step by step.

Member posts (reviews and photos)

Member reviews and photos are the personal experiences and opinions of the people who post them, and we show them separately from information checked by our team. For posting rules, see our Terms of Service.

Reporting errors and corrections

To report an error or outdated information, please use our Contact Form. We will check it and correct it as soon as possible. For important corrections, we note the date and details at the end of the page.
